Heroes of the Crimean is the latest iteration of a board/war game that I have been working on since I was 10. At its current iteration its a general combat system that uses resources management as an integral part of combat. Heroes of the Crimean is the steampunk flavored theme for the game. I have more ideas for themes (Sci-Fi and Fantasy) but not really as finalized as HotC.
Thought this blog I will post more world background and rules about the game.
The Crimean War was a real world conflict at the mid 19th century. The conflict was reckoned to be the first truly modern war with it's use of current modern technology, such as railways and telegraph.
The war was fought between The Russia Empire and the French Empire, allied by the Ottoman Empire and the British Empire.
The steampunk element comes into effect when the Analytically Engine, designed by Englishman Charles Babbage, was created in France. The Engine allowed the French to gleam more advanced designs from the basic clockwork of the time. by the time the Crystal Palace World Fair rolled in, the French Empire was the most technologically advance nation in Europe, and effectively the world.
Through commerce and self development, other nations got the Analytically Engine technology. The Portuguese created a fleet of flying ships, the Austrian created an army of ballerina-like mechanized infantry, the Danish created a force of arctic-survival bear-like monstrosities and the Americana created large cannons powered by slaves.
The main four forces that though in the Crimean War will be detailed at a later date.
That is the main premise of the setting. It is not allot more detailed then that. Next I will detail the French army.
